Expectations

Attendance is a big deal . . .

ü  Learning in our class is a social as well as an academic skill, and your presence matters and changes the class.  Plus, make up work is a pain for everyone and usually results in lower grades because instruction and work time are compromised.

Late work . . .

ü   Is heavily penalized – a grade a day (starting when class ends on the due date)

ü   Not accepted at all after three days

ü   No technology excuses

ü   Communicate with me, and I will communicate with you (and by law only you and your parents/guardian)

Class time . . .

ü   Time is always the enemy.  We never have as much as we would like, so class time must be focused on our activities and work only.  Anyone engaged in any non-class tasks will result in disciplinary action.

Getting extra help and reaching me  . . .

ü   I am always here by 7:15, and I never leave until 3:30.  You may always drop in for help; no appointment necessary.  Sometimes, I’m here but may be running errands on campus before or after school, so if you let me know you’re stopping in, I can be sure to be in the room.

ü   For your parents and you, here’s my e-mail and school phone: mgreenberg@vp.k12.mo.us; 636-923-3676, x3666.

Teasing, Etc.

ü   Giving anyone else a hard time, annoying someone else intentionally or accidentally . . . Any/All of this stuff has to be zero tolerance.  You know why.

Substitutes

ü   I rarely miss school.  At my last job, I missed 10 days in 10 years for illness.  However, I occasionally attend conferences.

ü   When/If I am ever gone, I expect that you treat the sub like a guest, respectfully, pleasantly, and cooperatively.  Anything less is unacceptable.  If your name shows up on a sub’s note as being someone who was uncooperative or unpleasant, plan on a detention or other disciplinary action.

Leaving the room . . .and how it connects to food/drinks

ü Unless you are on your death bed, I don’t send students to the nurse, the bathroom, or anywhere else. You may bring in bottled water – That’s it.  No other food or drinks of any kind are allowed.  We’ll ban gum if it ends up on the carpet or desks.
