All Communication Arts
classes work to help students improve
their skills, their confidence, and their
enjoyment of reading, writing, speaking,
and
listening.
-
We will read all kinds of
modern and classic short stories, plays,
and novels, and read some non-fiction
works. We may also explore and share
poetry as it
appears
as music lyrics as well as classic forms.
-
We will write informally in
journals every day, and we will practice
and learn more about writing paragraphs,
essays, and other types of college-prep
writing. Our writing will often
extend from our discussions of some of our
reading, but we will also tackle
contemporary issues in personal and
persuasive essays.
-
Our room is a classroom as well as a
modern computer lab, which is a huge
plus for us. We will do all our
writing on the computers, using
Microsoft Word, and we will use our
internet access to find and use
information that connects to what we are
reading and studying. Students
have to be comfortable keyboarding and
knowing the features of Word.
