TAAG

The Truancy and Academic Assist Group (TAAG) is a positive reinforcement program designed to stress to students the importance of attending school on a regular basis while promoting academic success and good behavior. In addition, TAAG links students and families with appropriate community services, decreases the need for referrals to Family Court, and reinforces Characterplus traits.

Circuit Court Judge Mary Pat Schroeder volunteers for the program, visiting the school once a week to meet with a small group of students which have been selected to participate in the program based on a variety of at-risk factors, such as poor attendance, under-achieving academics, and inappropriate behaviors. Also attending meetings are a Youth in Need Counselor, a school counselor, a school resource officer, a teacher who serves as a liaison between the students in the program and the school faculty, and the judge’s bailiff.
