Board Selects Dilg as Next Superintendent

The Valley Park School Board approved the School District of Clayton’s assistant superintendent of human resources, Dr. Tim Dilg, to become the district's new top school leader beginning July 1. He will replace Dr. David Knes who announced his plans to retire at the end of the current school year.
"It is a humbling honor to be selected as Superintendent of Schools in such a wonderful community," said Dr. Dilg in a statement to the district. "I look forward to building on the remarkable work of those caring and committed educators, board members, and community members who have come before me, and to serving the students and staff of Valley Park.
"Valley Park's tradition of strong character and outstanding academic performance, along with the talented students, dedicated teachers, staff, and administration, strong school board leadership, and the supportive parent community are what attracted me to the district. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to fulfill the mission of providing a positive, supportive, personalized environment in which students will grow strong intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially today in preparation for tomorrow."
Dilg has 16 years of experience in education including 12 years in administration. As the assistant superintendent of human resources in the School District of Clayton, he oversees recruitment, works with the school board on policy development, and plans and facilitates new staff orientation and ongoing support activities, including the district’s mentor program. Before his time at Clayton, Dilg served as principal at St. John Vianney High School. In addition to leading Vianney to be recognized as a National School of Excellence, he created a nationally recognized professional development program, assisted teachers in analyzing student achievement data to inform their instruction, and implemented and facilitated professional learning using brain-based research and technology integration. Before joining St. John Vianney High School, Dilg served as principal, assistant principal of academics, a classroom teacher and coach at Springfield Catholic High School in Springfield, Missouri.

We believe Dr. Dilg has the necessary skills to help Valley Park meet its goals and take student achievement to the next level. He has extensive experience in important areas for Valley Park, such as relationship building, instructional leadership, and teacher development. He can foster collaboration and contribute to our environment of continuous improvement."
Dr. Dilg has a doctorate in educational leadership from Saint Louis University. He also has a master of education from Drury University and a bachelor of science in professional writing from Missouri State University.
Dilg was chosen from a pool of 34 applicants.
