This week, Character.org selected VPE's 'Kids with Class' and 'Packs for Pals' programs as 2017 National Promising Practices.
Each year, as part of the Schools of Character program, Character.org recognizes educators in the United States and elsewhere who have implemented unique, specific, and effective character education strategies. Promising Practices put one or more of the 11 Principles Of Effective Character Education into action.
'Kids with Class' is a service group comprised of 4th and 5th graders who apply and are selected based on strong character traits and interest in service.
'Packs for Pals' is a program in which food is collected and provided to students and families over weekends and long breaks to help offset the consequences of poor nutrition.
